Dec 20, 2017. Hello, everyone. Doing some research here and in other websites, I became more and more interested in Zenith watches. My respect and admiration for the brand's excellence grew very much since I begun my journey through horology - even more considering how understated is Zenith's attitude towards marketing. In another thread on the MB, I mentioned I was working on a Zenith bumper automatic wrist watch for a friend. There was a reply to the post requesting a picture. At that point, I was waiting for parts. Here is a ZENITH cal. 133.8 which is one of first Zenith automatic movements (together with cal. 133), and the first movement to have direct central second hand. It is a bumper automatic with 20 jewels, beating at 21.600 bph with a power reserve of 35 h. There were 77.000 watches produced with this caliber between 1951 and 1958.

This makes watches like the incredibly well-preserved 1950s Zenith Automatic that is featured in this week’s episode of Under the Radar the perfect vintage timepieces for collectors who want a beautiful watch from a blue chip manufacturer, all for an attractive price that won’t break the bank.
